This year's holy month of Ramadan and following Eid celebrations in April presented unforeseen challenges for Muslim students at National Dong Hwa University(NDHU). A fire broke out and consumed parts of Engineering Building I, the mosque situated in the building was fortunately spared. However, daily prayers, iftar, and tarawih, performed by the international Muslim students were significantly disrupted. The fire, occurring earlier this month, led to restricted access to the affected area by the university administration, disrupting students' Ramadan activities, especially during the crucial last ten days marked by Laylatul Qadr, or the Night of Power. Though the prayer room was unaffected, the Indonesian Muslim student organization, Forum Mahasiswa Muslim Indonesia di Taiwan(Formmit), opted to relocate their activities to the Humanities and Social Sciences building I's prayer room as a precautionary measure.
