NDHU International Office Hosts Tangyuan Day to Foster Exchange Student Engagement and Intercultural Exchange

The International Office of National Dong Hwa University(NDHU)hosted the "Tangyuan Day" event, bringing together exchange students through the symbolic meaning of reunion, facilitating the sharing of diverse intercultural experiences, and encouraging students to return to NDHU in the future, as expressed by the University President.

To foster an internationalized campus environment and to provide exchange students with warm and lasting memories of the semester, the International Office of NDHU organized the "Tangyuan Day" event on December 26, 2025. Exchange students from various countries were invited to gather and enjoy tangyuan-traditional rice dumplings symbolizing reunion and blessings-while collectively reflecting on their academic and living experiences during their exchange period at NDHU.
Centered on the theme of reunion, the event symbolized the friendships and emotional bonds formed by exchange students while studying abroad, and also represented NDHU's care and goodwill toward its international student community. The event was conducted in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, during which exchange students shared their cultural backgrounds and experiences of living in Taiwan through relaxed and engaging interactions, highlighting the rich multicultural character of the campus.
During the program, exchange student representatives took turns sharing their academic and daily life experiences at NDHU throughout the semester. Their presentations included academic achievements in the classroom, interactions with Taiwanese peers, participation in campus activities, as well as profound impressions of Hualien's natural environment and cultural landscape. Many students expressed that NDHU's supportive learning environment and the dedication of faculty and staff enabled them to integrate smoothly into campus life and to create valuable and lasting memories.
The President and Vice President attended the event in person, engaging with the exchange students and extending their sincere greetings and best wishes. The President affirmed the students' academic accomplishments and contributions to cross-cultural exchange, and emphasized NDHU's long-standing commitment to internationalization. The President expressed hope that students would continue to cherish and carry forward their fond memories of NDHU wherever they go, and warmly welcomed them to return to the university for future academic exchange or advanced studies. Vice President Ching-Peng Chu likewise encouraged students to maintain their enthusiasm for cross-cultural learning and to serve as vital bridges connecting NDHU with the global community.
According to the International Office, "Tangyuan Day" is not only an important end-of-semester exchange activity, but also a symbolic occasion representing the friendships and sense of belonging established by exchange students at NDHU. Through such a warm and meaningful gathering, the university aims to ensure that international students feel a sense of home and carry these emotional connections and memories with them to all parts of the world.
The "Tangyuan Day" event concluded successfully amid warmth and laughter. It not only marked a meaningful conclusion to the exchange students' semester, but also further strengthened the enduring and valuable bond between National Dong Hwa University and its international student community.
