Professor Taeko Moriyasu from the Office for Global Relations at Nagasaki University, Japan, visited the Department of Finance at National Dong Hwa University on March 4, 2026. During her visit, she shared information about the study environment in Japan, introduced the dual-degree program, and discussed potential future academic exchange plans and collaboration models between the two institutions. National Dong Hwa University and Nagasaki University have maintained a long-term partnership in cultivating outstanding students, which serves as an exemplary model of international cooperation at Dong Hwa University.

During the session held at the Department of Finance, Professor Moriyasu introduced the study environment in Japan, the learning experiences of international students at Nagasaki University, and the current operation of the joint master’s dual-degree program between the two universities. She also encouraged graduate students at National Dong Hwa University to apply for the dual-degree program. The discussion was facilitated by Professor Tony Chieh-Tze Hou of the Department of Finance, who guided students in participating. Students who have already been admitted to the master’s dual-degree program also joined the exchange session and shared their preparation plans prior to studying in Japan.

Following the session, faculty members of the Department of Finance met with Professor Moriyasu to further discuss future exchange plans and possible directions for academic collaboration, and to introduce the teaching and learning environment at National Dong Hwa University. Professor Jin-Ray Lu, Chair of the Department of Finance, also proposed the future development of a bachelor’s dual-degree program between the two universities. Professor Lu noted that National Dong Hwa University and Nagasaki University have maintained a long-standing cooperative relationship. The Department of Finance has established a master’s dual-degree program with Nagasaki University, allowing departmental graduate students to study there. Students only need to pay tuition at National Dong Hwa University while being exempt from tuition at Nagasaki University, making it an excellent opportunity for studying abroad. Through this program, students can obtain master’s degrees from both National Dong Hwa University and Nagasaki University. Over the past several years, several students have successfully completed the program and received dual master’s degrees. This year, two students have also been admitted to the program.

Professor Lu further mentioned that the Department of Finance has also established a bachelor’s dual-degree program with RWTH Aachen University in Germany, which similarly allows students to be exempt from paying tuition at the partner university. Both undergraduate and graduate students therefore have opportunities to study abroad and obtain degrees from universities in Taiwan and other countries. National Dong Hwa University warmly welcomes high school students across Taiwan to apply to the Department of Finance, and also welcomes university graduates to join the department’s master’s program to pursue an outstanding academic journey.
